Back in 2005 when we first decided to make the move to only "conscious" companies, we really struggled with where to get technical race clothing that was not made of synthetics. The we stumbled on to Ibex. No need to look further. We race in the bike shorts, jerseys, leg and arm warmers (side note: leg and arm warmers are just about the most undervalued peices of adventure travel clothing! We never ever ever race or start an expedition without them!).
We run during the winter in the Energy tights. We wear the soft-shell jackets everywhere, and even throw on the Shak sweater to go out to dinner with our parents...
Under it all is their seamless underwear collection which is sexy and super comfortable.
Ibex has a long history of sustainibilty practices, born out of the staunch bike commuter ethic of the Vermont hills. These guys and girls are fun to hang out with, about as grounded and unpretentious as you can get.
Favorite peices? Chelsey loves her woolies and mehru hat, Sam is almost never without his Pingora softshell (discontinued now sorry!), Daniel sleeps in his leg warmers, and Jason often forgets to take off his bike shorts after a ride.
We'll be putting the shorts and new lightweight cycling jerseys to the test during the upcoming YES tour.
Another note - for all you whitewater lovers out there. Wool (ie Ibex) is a great paddling fabric. We swim in cold rivers alot during out packrafting expeditions, and our standard dress is a full wool underlayer, covered with a light shell jacket and pants.
